Congrats to everyone on yet ANOTHER fantastic opener!  :thumbup_smilie:

My crew and I did well jiggin' by day and tossin' sticks by night, my biggest fish was a 21".   Caught fish anywhere from out in 25 FOW on in to about 14...At night we threw at rocks in as little as 2 feet and out to 5.  I was getting all my fish on 5/8 oz. Bucktails, tipped with plastic during the day, and at night various Rapalas worked just nice.  I knew it was gonna be another steller opener when I caught my first Eye jiggin' a slip float at Apps for crappies on Friday morning!  Stayed until Monday Morning, and had a fantastic time!! CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!!   The Ice Addict will be giving the GoggleEyes a chance to recover until ICE!! Keep em' in check for me brotha's!!

Thank you for stopping by and delivering my beanie Mr. President, You, Filet and Mr. Release are ALL swell guys!  ;)

Rick's PO'd we didn't invite him to join our club!!   I can see why, HE lies about fishing more than anyone I know!!  :D

Heres the one I caught at Rick's marina Friday. I think that was my favorite one of the weekend!

And heres a nice  shot of my favorite spot on the North shore!

We all believe in something,...I believe I'll go fishin'....

Interesting water temps.  ??? We were off Cleveland on Saturday and found 49f everywhere we went. Was anyone else watcyhing water temps?

Not a surprise.  I saw weird stuff too.  It was to be expected with the weather pattern.  I posted about it a week ago.  Temps were a bit coller than that a wk ago, then 3 days of warm weather & warm runoff caused the scenario. Off cleveland you're surrounded by the deepest water, with little runoff.  The warmer temps would've been at each end considering runoff & how much shallow water is around.
I was berated for fishing & asked recently by a PETA type.  You don't keep fish do you?  I responded "No I don't like aquariums. I just treat them like a quick haircut, & take a little of the sides"

Are you serious about the trolling motor I get nothing but complaints. I think I'll just loung in the back and complain, maybe bounce a few MHL caps off your hat or something.

Hey what are you thoughts about running 2 year gas through a 4-stroke that was stabilized with stabil marine? I have about 15 gallons of gas in the tank.  To get rid of it I have to buy probably 3 gas cans and surrender them when I bring the stuff in to drop off. To get rid of old gas in Madison Co they send you to the Fairgrounds in Syracuse to get rid of it.  I was thinking of putting some octane booster in it and a few gallons of high test.
I had some from a couple of snowmobiles and put it in my truck , it ran fine.

It is not the motor it is the wobbley seat post and a touchy foot petal. It is hard on your back too. Maybe I am just old and cranky ::) ;D. Still a nice boat. I would spend the bucks for an I PILOT.

The fish we caught were mostly on structure and rapid depth changes. We got some early (daybreak) throwing 5/8 oz black/purple bucktails in shallow shoals (5 to 13 fow). I know 5/8 seems big, and it is, but they seem to like it. That bite died off for us as the sun came up. We switched to the deeper structure ( 21 - 29 fow ). Right now, as you can read in posts from the veterans, you can get 'em by throwing a bucktail or a sonar. There are cases where they are grouped up a little on the flats, mostly the post-spawn males, but usually a better bet is to locate and fish the sloping bottom. Take a run-and-gun approach. Spend 15 or 20 minutes on a spot. If they ain't there ... they ain't there ... move on. For a few of us there seems to be a morning pattern and a separate evening pattern. An empty spot in the morning can have walleyes on it after supper.
There are a zillion ways to catch walleyes on this lake. Choose your weapon (sticks, cranks, spinners, plastics, jigs, sonars, live bait, etc., etc.). Pick one or two and get good at it. Hitch a ride with a veteran when you can. Good luck!!

ran out there for an hour and a half today. stayed close to home because of the weather. tried the west opening off maple bay 12-15 fow, when I got there I marked so many fish it was crazy and caught 7 pickeral in an hour. tried alittle shallower and deeper but only saw one eye who didnt hit my crankbait. Early may fishing continues to baffle me, I stuck to bucktails and sonars with some crank baits mixed in but could only get pickeral. Its a weird feeling having the navionics map with perfect detail of the lake at my finger tips and being clueless haha. I tried west of the bay because of a slight west wind probably should have went closer to the east side. The learning continues. Water was 56.5 after the rain and the pickeral were huge.

Anyone think the high muddy creeks dumping into the lake will put them off tomorrow night, or will the warmer rain water keep them moving?  Fish Creek and Oneida Creek are very high and chocolate brown.

Got out for a two hour trip tonight with my buddy Alan. We found fish in several places but they weren't on very well, we picked our way to a limit of nice 16-18" fish. Nice to have the rain ease up enough for a comfortable trip- lake was pretty much flat. Our fish came from 24-30' tonight, one on the sonar, the rest on bucktails.
