I was out on a lake this morning in a black fly hatch. Not much of a breeze so they swarmed us.

It's been strange. Here in Windham they were horrible last week around the house, yesterday I was up in Gardiner and they were thick in the bright sun, came home to Windham mid day and stayed outside until well after dark and not a single one?
At the mouth of the river at Sebago in the Spring, it's East to West unless you want a beating from the rest! ;D ;D

I saw BIG V formations of them flying your way over the past week. I thought they were shags.  ;D

Yes, they hatched big time.  Was working in the garden Saturday and needed to wear a long sleeve shirt just to keep them off my arms.
