Cleared for Kayaking

So I just had the two week check after my hip surgery. First question I asked was can I get in my kayak so I can fish. The answer wasn't an emphatic yes but it was enough for me to take the yak out yesterday. Hit a lake in Otis and battled a steady 20mph wind w gusts upwards of 30 mph. I was looking at a skunk and were ready to call it quits but opted to continue battling the wind. I eventually got the skunk off w a hearty pickerel. With about an hour of time left we fished the only spot out of the wind. A few casts and bam my buddy was hooked into a pig. I saw it jump and could see the gut on th fish and new it was a hog. It ended up being a 5lb 11oz female Larry. A new PB for my buddy. We fished unsuccessfully for a little longer but decided to pack it in bc we weren't going to top that fish today. He's lucky he's got a fishing addicted friend who will go out fishing when he's stuck on crutches for 4 more weeks.

I got back out to little brother of the pond we fished yesterday. It was definitely less windy than yesterday but still enough of a breeze to be a pain in the kayak. There were also passing showers throughout the day. We ended up with about half a dozen largemouths with the largest being 4lbs 3oz which succumbed to the jig-n-pig. I lost another one of comparable size right at the kayak as well.
