Yo Guys & Gals,
Sorry I have not been keeping up with the chatter on the Pond. I’ve had a lot of issues with the new (used) Johnson 60 hp . That’s the problem with those used motors. One thing after another to bring them up to good running order. Got most of the issues worked out, at least enough for Annie and I to take it out last Friday for a test run.
Didn’t take the poles, so no fishing report. Windy and choppy.
Decided to give it a real trial run on Saturday . I was joined by my long time fishing partner , Jperch. We decided to give Cayuga a try out of Union Springs. Beautiful day. It was multiple species day, dividing our catch between perch , rock bass , blue gills, sunnies and a multitude of large mouth. I don’t thing we brought home 10 keepers between the two of us, but as I said, it was a beautiful day on the water.
Jperch informed me he is now ready to join the Old Farts club, having retired last week from his 43 year career as a higher math professor at Oswego State. Kudos to my long time fishing bud. Ain’t much need for higher math fishing with me my friend. Keep 50 perch,3 pike and 25 crappy. Looking forward to many more fishing exploits with my new ‘Old Fart’ fishing partner.
I went easy on him and let him have the first, and most fish categories for the day, but I kept the Buck for biggest. Oh, and incidentally, I lost my brand new fish net trying to net one of his 4 pound large mouth. Now, math wise I lost a buck on fish categories and 30 bucks on the new net. So I reckon I lost “NET” 31 bucks. Is that right professor?
In closing, the new old Johnson still needs some carburetor adjustment , switch out the Raymarine fish finder from the Sea Nymph and I should be a full fledged danger to the fish population again.
All for now and thanks to all my fishing buddies who let me set second chair this spring.
