I didnt want to steal icegeek's topic...but when trolling for salmon/trout, do you have better success with the floater, or the sinking pin minnow?

I've done well pulling them behind leadcore, and that was with the floating model.

Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more important than that!

I live with FEAR everyday, and sometimes she lets me go fishing!

sir catchalot...The rainbow trout color works for me....I've used them in the spring either long line trolling directly behind the boat or off of inline planar boards.  I've alos fished them off of leadcore and they seem to excell in either condition depending on where the fish are located.  I catch loads of big browns and rainbows with the occasional laker.  Reef runners also have produced for me in the past as have thuinderstick jrs

Those things don't catch fish.....   ::)   :whistling:
Oh Lord,
There he is.
Feels like a big one.
Please don’t let me lose him.
I’ve never caught one this big before.
I’ll try not to horse him.
And if I land him I promise to release him
And make a graphite replica...
If my wife says it’s okay.
Thank you for the Rapalas.
Amen.

I use my Yo-zuri crystal minnow for Coho in the shallows with good success. I use the floating and file the lip down a little- that way you know when your running it off a downrigger that it's not going to dive down to the bottom and snag up.
"I fish because I love to; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience; because maybe one day I will catch a mermaid; and finally, not because I regard fishing as being so terribly important, but suspect so many other concerns of men equally unimportant- and not nearly so much fun."

I use the floating pin minnow "Purple" and we catch some very nice brookie's and salmon in the spring ! \
I have used many other colors but find myself always going back to the purple, I think it looks alot like a smelt withthat purple tone to it !

For flat lining I use sinking with purple coloration. Decent success with the darker colors because they silhouette well against the sky under water. However when using lead core, cow bells or down rigger I tend to stick with the floating model in either silver or gold.
