Here's my "Brown Stone"
#12 White River curved nymph hook
Tungsten bead sized to hook
.030 round lead
140 denier Ultra Thread, tan
Rust goose biots
rust super fine dubbing (body)
Dark Grey life cycle dubbing (thorax and collar)
Pheasant Wing feather (legs
Black Swiss Straw (case)
Crystal Flash (flashback)
Fine gold wire (rib)
Wrap lead, push to back of bead and tie in wrapping a tapered section at the back of the lead
Dub a small ball at the bend of the hook, tie in biots, tie in gold wire for rib, dub body forward to about 2/3
Tie in several strands of crystal flash and black swiss straw
Prep a feather as shown and tie in from the tip shiny side down (I'm using pheasant...Thanks KP
)
Dub a loose thorax
pull the feather then swiss straw then crystal flash forward and tie in
Dub a small collar to cover the wraps, whip finish.
