Every year at Thanksgiving, when turkeys go on sale, I buy 2 birds.
One for Thanksgiving, and the other for the smoker in the summer.
My sister and BIL are arriving here on Friday for a 10 day visit.
They are coming down with intentions to buy a place here in our park.
My BIL, Dan, retired last month, and my sister, Chris, will be retiring in the next year or two.
They plan to be snowbirds at first.
Anyway, it should be a blast as always.
Saturday Dan and I will smoke that turkey (and some beans!!!) while Donna and Chris attend the local farmer's market.
The dinner and adult beverages should be great, as well as a lot fun to be had by all.
I took the bird out of the deep freeze on Monday.
Tonight, I boiled the brine, and it is cooling off now.
I'll stuff it into the fridge in the morning before we head to the beach and combine it with the bird later in the afternoon when we get back home.
That bird will brine in the fridge for about a day and a half before I put it into the pellet smoker on Saturday.
Can't wait.
