Boat Rebuild (pic heavy)
« on: Jul 06, 2016, 04:09 PM »
Last spring I bought a 15' Duroboat off of C list. I knew from the start it would be in need of some work, but it had a good design for a rebuild. These boats were built in Seattle, Wa, and have a good following in the Peugeot Sound area. It was cheap, and had a decent galvanized trailer. It would suit my current needs for the time being. It's light enough I can tow it with my Outback. I ran it last year to be sure I wanted to go into the bowels of the beast.  :o

The main issues were a sagging transom, and a marginal spongy floor.

Another issue was all the Styrofoam beads from the floatation would eventually end up in the bilge. No way could I install a pump, it would have choked on the debris. Turns out age and rodents where the cause of this. It's a 1988.

The old transom vs. the new aluminum one.   ;D

The transom bolted in nice, plus a bilge pump.

I'm a little out of order here, new rear sheet before structural.

Needed some floatation. Now this I wasn't so sure about, but it was the only thing I could get my grubby paws on. FREE. The stringer system is actually mounted onto a bed of quality foam rubber. The side support braces push from above deck the whole base assembly down. It's the sum of the parts that works. Pretty cool system.   8)

For the deck I used king starboard, textured plastic.

The next step was to add a waterproof switch, a fuse panel and ground buss.

I have no intentions of repainting, I like the RATROD look. I can bang it around and not worry. Solid is what we're after here. With the ratrod theme going on my buddy donated an old skidoo windshield.   :P   Also added a poly transducer mounting block.

Moved the one seat forward, it was positioned along side of the drivers seat which didn't work out.
